I bet you can not find a definition of classic film on Wikipedia! Everyone has his/her own explanation of classic films. To get different perspectives on how people understand classic movies, we interviewed some of our members. let’s have a look at what a classic movie is in their eyes!
Jelena: “What determines a classic film is what determines a classic piece of literature: We will never say a new film or literature is a classic one; it has to stand the test of time and will not be outdated as time passes by. So for me, a classic film must be an old one that has passed the test of time and be appreciated by different generations!”
Margarida: “I think classic movies are movies with far-reaching significance. For example, Toy Story started the process of computer-made 3D animation. Fight Club inspired fight clubs in real life. I really value the social and cultural significance of movies.”
Igor: “A classic movie has to have some emotional resonance that lasts beyond the immediate viewing of the movie and get me into deep thinking. Many people say that Titanic is a classic movie, but I think that apart from the touching love of the protagonist, this movie can't give me more deep inspiration, so in my heart, it does not qualify as a classic film.”

Sheilagh:” Classic films are often universal favourites that hold up after repeated screenings. They are films that can be watched on many different levels, and as a result, enjoyed again and again over the years in new ways. Thus in my view, if a movie can not receive big welcome when it is rescreened, it can not be qualified as a classic movie.”
As expected, we got totally different answers. Now comes the question: what is a classic film like in your personal eyes?
