classicfilmclubtcd

Hey Cinephiles! We here at the classic film club love history, and we love a good acting performance, too. But did you also know that we love a good top five list and historical heartthrobs? Did you ever wonder what movie stars of old would have made your granny and mom swoon and sigh? Look no further, we have them all arranged here in numerical order! Starting with: Gary Cooper

Popular Films: A Farewell to Arms; Sergeant York Nicknamed ‘Coop’, this talented actor was close friends with Pablo Picasso and Earnest Hemmingway. He’s also won two Oscars! Looks and talent, for sure.

Gene Kelly

Popular Films: Singin’ in the Rain; An American in Paris

Before becoming a movie star, Gene Kelly was a teacher and a choreographer. You might not know this, but he consulted Madonna on one of her tours! He’s known for his handsome looks and lively dancing style.

James Dean

Popular Films: Rebel Without a Cause; East of Eden

The icon of teenage disillusionment! The old school badboy! James Dean always put his very specific brooding quality to all his roles, which made him extremely memorable. Sadly, he died young at 24, and was thus one of the only actors to receive numerous awards posthumously.

Marlon Brando

Famous Films: The Godfather, A Streetcar Named Desire

Marlon Brando is one of the most famous actors ever, and is widely lauded as being the greatest actor of all time. His breakout role was in ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’, and his performance was just that good - you really can’t watch any other version but with him as the leading role.

Humphrey Bogart

Famous Films: Casablanca; The Maltese Falcon

Boggart oozes style and sophistication. He is likely the person you imagine when you think of the 1940s, of old school noir and classy behaviour. The face of old Hollywood, truly. Before his big career breakthrough in The Maltese Falcon, Bogart was on Broadway in the 1020s.
